I was a Senior Artist at Intrepid Studios working on Ashes of Creation. Both the MMO in production, and the shipped Battle Royale variant “Apocolypse”.

My main responsibilities were building the natural environments. This includes making custom shaders, textures, and flora. I was also responsible for researching tools and designing workflows for making a large open world efficiently and on schedule.

I did most of the lighting in the game. This entailed making a fully dynamic day/night cycle by massively extending the purchased blueprint system we originally had been using with my own customizations.

I was particularly proud of the procedural placement tools I made to help assemble entire buildings easily and efficiently. Using a modular set of building pieces, I was able to build a highly adaptive blueprint that can hotswap between different styles of building, all while maintaining artist control and in-game instancing.
